Honda Civic Gets Styling and Tech Updates in 2019
The 2019 Honda Civic is right around the corner, and it will feature a handful of key upgrades to its safety, tech, and looks. Here’s the skinny on what to expect from the 2019 Honda Civic.
First, the Civic will drop the EX-T trim and gain a new Sport version level between the LX and EX models. This trim will feature a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque. This engine pairs to a standard six-speed manual transmission or an optional continuously variable transmission. The 2019 Honda Civic Sport will also include fog lights, gloss-black trim, 18-inch wheels wrapped in the same rubber as the Si model’s wheels, a black decklid spoiler, Sport badging, and a sport muffler with a center exit.
Inside, the Sport model will gain red gauges, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, paddle shifters on CVT models, textured aluminum pedals, leatherette-and-cloth seats, and an eight-speaker audio system.
Visually, the 2019 Honda Civic will gain a revised lower bumper that will give it a wider look, blacked-out headlight treatment, gloss-black on the wing-design grille, upgraded LED headlights on the Touring trim, chrome accents on the front bumper, a chrome strip on the rear bumper, and three new colors: Platinum White Pearl, Molten Lava Pearl, and Tonic Yellow Pearl.
Inside, the 2019 Honda Civic will gain a revamped Display Audio system with a new interface and a physical volume knob, easier-to-pair Bluetooth system, redesigned steering wheel-mounted controls, a new central cup holder to better handle larger cups, gunmetal gray trim on LX models, metallic trim on EX, EX-L and Touring sedans, embossed trim on the new-for-2019 Sport models, and additional sound insulation.
Under its hood, the Civic will continue with its standard 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and an optional 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. What will change in the powertrain department is the elimination of the 2.0-liter engine in the EX trim, making the 1.5-liter engine and CVT the standard driveline.
