Buick Enclave Vs. Honda Pilot

By Justin Cupler | July 24th, 2019

Three-row crossovers offer all the room you need and the drivability of a sedan, making your daily commute a breeze. The 2019 Buick Enclave and 2019 Honda Pilot offer all that and more, but which is best for our Rochester area buyers? Continue reading to find out.

The Buick Enclave went through its last redesign in 2018, bringing in a more luxurious, European-inspired look that positions it nicely against the more premium brands. As a sub-luxury crossover, this makes it a great middle point between the mainstream and luxury vehicles without costing an arm and leg. This look features a rounded nose, the signature Buick waterfall grille, swoopy body lines, striking shoulder haunches, and plenty of large, shiny wheel options.

The 2019 Honda Pilot also recently went through a redesign, but it came in 2016, making it older than the Enclave. In 2019, the Pilot went through a mild refresh, giving it an updated look, but there were no big changes. Unlike the Buick, the 2019 Pilot has a more traditional look, but it has plenty of luxurious features, including LED headlights and 20-inch wheels in its range-topping Elite trim.

The 2019 Buick Enclave’s exterior has a wide range of standard features that add to its luxurious looks, including 18-inch painted aluminum wheels, automatic-on/off headlights, chrome-accented door handles, deep-tinted glass, a hands-free power liftgate with LED logo projection, LED headlights, chrome bodyside moldings, and more.

The Honda Pilot is not quite as luxurious as the Enclave with its standard 18-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, auto-on/off LED low-beam headlights with auto on-off, LED taillights, and tinted rear glass, but it comes at a huge value at $31,450. That makes it about $10,000 cheaper than the base Buick Enclave.

Advantage: 2019 Honda Pilot

  • Great value

As a sub-luxury crossover, the 2019 Buick Enclave has loads of high-end amenities, even in its base trim level. A lot of the luxury comes from its design including its winglike leatherette dash accent, 8-inch touchscreen flanked by air vents, and quiet-tuning technology.

The 2019 Honda Pilot’s cabin, like its exterior, is nowhere near as luxurious as the Enclave’s, but its lower price and stylish looks make it a great value. This style includes a two-tone dash, horizontally oriented climate controls, and more.

As for standard features, the Buick Enclave is decked out. These features include 4G LTE Wi-Fi, a six-way power passenger’s seat, an eight-way power driver’s seat, active noise cancellation, an 8-inch high-resolution touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, six USB ports, heated front seats, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, tri-zone automatic climate control, a universal home remote, and more.

The base 2019 Pilot LX’s standard features are not as premium as the Enclaves and include a sunglasses holder, keyless ignition, power windows with one-touch up/down front windows, power door locks, rear heater ducts, steering-wheel-mounted controls, a 5-inch color infotainment screen, a 1-amp USB audio interface, a 2.5-amp USB charging port in the center console, a 215-amp, seven-speaker audio system, and Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming.

The Pilot may not have the same level of standard features as the Enclave, it is superior in standard safety equipment with its standard multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines, automatic emergency braking, road-departure mitigation, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
